The export file is reduced in size by reducing the dimensions of all images in the file. The result is an identical file with all other elements preserved except for the resolution of the images.
Summary: Create a reduced export file on NatureNotes using the Share trip option. If the resulting file is small enough to email, send it. On the receiving device use Save to Files to save the export file into the NatureNotes folder. Then import the file from within NatureNotes.
1. Open a walk, then press Share trip.
2. Select the Export file sized for email option.
3. Create the file. The filename in this example will be Arrowhead_Marsh.exp. An export filename will always be the name of the walk with '.exp' as the file type. (As an advance warning, it's possible the file cannot be reduced in size sufficiently for emailing if there are too many images. You just need to try this step to determine whether it will work for a given walk record.)
4. If the resulting file is small enough for email, send it. Otherwise stop here and try another option.
5. If the email with the export file was successfully sent, open the email on the target device.
6. Open the export file by either long-pressing it
(better) or tapping it. Once the contents of the file are
displayed, a Save to Files option is presented on the
screen. If you long-pressed the file the screen looks like this,
in which case you just press Save to Files:
However, if you tapped the file, the screen presented is
slightly different. In this case you need to select the share
button in the top right corner, then scroll the lower window to
access the Save to Files option.
7. After pressing Save to Files, select the NatureNotes
folder. Then press Save in the upper right corner
of the screen.
8. Exit Apple Mail, then open the NatureNotes app.
Open the Main Menu and select Import/Export file
management.
9. Select the record to import, then import!
