How to copy an exported walk file to another device

Summary: Create the export file on NatureNotes using the Share trip option.  Connect the device to a computer, then transfer the export file to the computer. Disconnect the first device, then plug the target device into the computer. Transfer the export file from the computer to the new device. Use the import/export option in the Main Menu in NatureNotes on the new device to import the walk record.

1.  Open a walk, then press Share trip.

2. Select the Full export file for direct file transfer option.

3. Create the file.  The filename in this example will be Inspiration_Point.exp. An export filename will always be the name of the walk with '.exp' as the file type.

4. Connect your device to the computer. This should be the device from which you're copying the walk record.

5. Open a new listing window on the computer.  Your device should be listed under Locations if the connection was established.

6. Select the device.  Then select Files in the tab menu.

7. If you open the NatureNotes folder, all of your records stored in NatureNotes will be listed. Drag the correct exported file (in this example, it would be Inspiration_Point.exp) onto your computer.  Note that very large files or directories may take a while to copy, so make sure it's completely copied over before you unplug your device.

8. Unplug the device, and plug in the new device to which the export file will be copied.

9. In the same listing window, select the new device under Locations, select Files, then open the NatureNotes folder.

10. Copy the exported file from the computer to the NatureNotes folder of the device. Again, wait until the copy process is completely finished.

11. Unplug the device, then open NatureNotes.  Open the Main Menu and select Import/Export file management.

12. Select the record to import, then import!

13. Go back to your walk listing, and the new file should be at the top of the list.
